Pray the Devil Back to Hell
The Peace & Justice Committee presents on Sunday, March 21 from noon - 2:00 pm the remarkable story of e courageous Liberian women who came together to end a bloody civil war and bring peace to their shattered country. Thousands of women — ordinary mothers, grandmothers, aunts and daughters, both Christian and Muslim — came together to pray for peace and then staged a silent protest outside of the Presidential Palace. Armed only with white T-shirts and the courage of their convictions, they demanded a resolution to the country’s civil war. Their actions were a critical element in bringing about a agreement during the stalled peace talks. This documentary will inspire you. A suggested $5 donation for lunch.
Uncovering Seeds of Faith: A New Approach to an Old Story
The second in a four-part series will continue from 4:00 - 5:30 pm on Sunday, March 21 led by Rev. Marcia Heeter and Peter Slonek. For too long the West has mined the religions of the Middle East and adapted them to our Western ways of thinking. In the process we have lost some ways of connecting to the life-giving spirit of the seeds of our faith. We will focus on the philosophy and teachings of Neil Douglas-Klotz including spiritual practices and Dances of Universal Peace. Mr. Douglas-Klotz has made it his life's mission to re-establish these lost connections and put us on a path of understanding and peaceful religious coexistence.
