Rev. Robert V. Thompson is known for his provocative, predictably
witty, messages that help listeners relate their spiritual lives
to the world around them. We invite you to sample a few:
For 11 years the Lake Street Church of Evanston has celebrated World Community Sunday as an interfaith event. Every year, representatives of eight religious and spiritual traditions offer chants, prayers and readings. Our featured speaker on October 1, 2006 was Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, Chair of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago.
He spoke on the theme, Repairing the World Together.
During Lent of 2007, members of the Lake Street Church of Evanston engaged in a Lenten study focused on the question, "what does it mean to live a contemplative life?" Half way through the Lenten season, Bill Glenn led 40 members of the community in a retreat wherein we explored the ways in which contemplative prayer open us to the heart of the Divine, the heart of life. The next day he preached the sermon, Do You Really Want To See Where I Live? We are happy to make Bill's challenging and consoling sermon available.
